چکیده

INTRODUCTION Almost every known central neurological syndrome has been reported as a complication of carbon monoxide poisoning. Hemorrhagic infarct has rarely been considered as an early manifestation of carbon monoxide poisoning. A case of cerebral hemorrhagic infarction is presented. Typical findings, neuropathology and the role of vascular injury are described. CASE PRESENTATION The symptoms and clinical course of acute poisoning with carbon monoxide in a 7-year-old boy are described. To evaluate the possible causes, a brain computed tomography (CT) was performed that showed thick clot in the left medial temporal and parasellar area, left sylvian fissure (acute intravascular thrombus) accompanied by left diffuse frontotemporal hypodensity and midline shift. Four-vessel digital subtraction angiography two weeks after intoxication was not indicative of any vascular lesion. CONCLUSION Hemorrhagic infarction is a rare presentation of carbon monoxide poisoning. When found in a child, in addition to conservative treatment to reduce the neurocognitive squeal, other probable causes should be ruled out.

A Case of Cerebral Infarction Provoked by Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Probable Unilateral Moyamoya Disease

Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a progressive cerebrovascular disease of unknown origin and characterized by progressive occlusion of the terminal portion of the internal carotid and proximal cerebral arteries with the development of typical extensive basal collateral network. Major clinical manifestations include repeated ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes and epileptic seizures. It is known that hemod...

A Case of Acute Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Resulting in an ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a well-known chemical asphyxiant, which causes tissue hypoxia with prominent neurological and cardiovascular injury. After exposure to CO, several cardiac manifestations have been reported, including arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction, and pulmonary edema. However, an ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) due to CO poisoning is a very rare presentation, and th...

Accidental carbon monoxide poisoning presenting without a history of exposure: A case report

INTRODUCTION Carbon monoxide poisoning is easy to diagnose when there is a history of exposure. When the exposure history is absent, or delayed, the diagnosis is more difficult and relies on recognising the importance of multi-system disease. We present a case of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. CASE PRESENTATION A middle-aged man, who lived alone in his mobile home was found by friends ...

Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction secondary to carbon monoxide intoxication

Carbon monoxide poisoning has been documented in literature to cause severe neurological and tissue toxicity within the body. However, cardiotoxicity is often overlooked, but not uncommon. Previous research studies and case reports have revealed a significant relationship between carbon monoxide intoxication and myocardial ischemic events. We report a case of a 48-year-old male, who was exposed...
